Second Market Period

Assignment 11
This assignment was a review of most of the different types of text styles I've learned during multimedia. It helped refresh my knowledge what i learned. For 'MCSM' I used the crazy text effect. For 'Red Cross' I used the glass text effect. I used the plastic text effect for 'Thurs. 3:15 Auditorium'. This assignment also helped me to get used to using multiple layers when you're doing an assignment. I used the the linear gradient to create the white and red background. To add the picture i opened it through Photoshop. I then pressed Ctrl-A to select the picture, then Ctrl-C to copy it and lastly Ctrl V to paste it to the poster.

Assignment 12
For this assignment, I had to find a dress and a pattern that I thought would look nice on the dress. I opened the dress on Photoshop. Then I used the magnetic lasso tool to separate the dress from the figure. Then with the new layer I selected Copy Merged (Shift+Ctrl+C). I opened the texture and pressed and selected the move tool until the texture covered the whole dress. Next, I clipped the layers. Finally, I decreased the opacity to complete the effect.

Assignment 13

For this assignment I choose to images. One was a picture of a bowl of chips and the other was a picture of some lettuce. I opened a new file in Photoshop and applied a linear gradient to the background. Next, I opened the picture of the chips in Photoshop and I deleted the part with the chips using the magnetic lasso tool. Then, I merged the picture of the lettuce into the place where the chips use to be. I used the rectangle tool to create the lighter blue where the caption is. I applied an outer glow to the photo and Food Bank logo. I also applied a drop shadow to some of the text. I researched reasons why eating lettuce was a healthier than eating chips.

Assignment 14A

In this assignment I had to create a painted effect look with displacement maps. I opened the flag and brick wall in a new document. I changed the flag layer to hard light which gave it a see through effect. I duplicated the flag layer and moved it above the flag layer. I applied the Gaussian Blur effect to it and saved it. I then went to the flag layer and applied the Displace filter. I selected the flag displacement I saved earlier. I changed the blending on the brick wall to hard light. Finally I changed the opacity on it to give it a natural effect.
Assignment 14B

This assignment is similar to Assignment 14a. I used my picture instead of the brick wall.

Assignment 15

In this assignment I used motion blur to make the picture the car seem like it taken in motion. I opened the picture as a smart object so I could add more details. Smart filters allows you to make adjustments without messing up the pixels. When I applied the motion blur I only applied it to the background.
Assignment 16

I used quick masking to change the color of this woman's hair. Quick masking is a mode that allows you to select areas that you would like to edit. This is how I was able to change her hair color without changing the whole picture. Once I entered the quick mask mode I used the brush to paint the areas I wanted to edit. Next I switched the foreground color so it become white. I painted over any colors I I didn't want edited. i changed the foreground back to black and make sure the area I wanted to change was covered in red. Finally I turned the quick masking mode off.
Assignment 17

This assignment was one of my favorites. I applied a Soft-filter to Tika Sumpter's skin. I converted the picture to Smart Filter. Then I applied a Gaussian Blur to the photo. I pressed screen and added a layer mask. Then i used a soft-edged brush big enough to outline my eyes. I used the air brush tool and lowered the opacity to 40%. Finally, I painted over important features like her eyes, mouth, hair, dress and background so the filter was only on her skin.

Assignment 18

For this assignment I was introduced to Adobe Illustrator. It is very similar to Adobe Photoshop when it comes to the tools. First I created a rectangle using the rectangle tool and a circle using the ellipse tool. I aligned them and used Pathfinder to unite them. It gave it that circular bottom. I applied a pink and blue gradient to the shape. I created two small rectangles. I went to Effects > Warp > Arc and set the vertical distortion to 10%. I placed the rectangles behind the main body. To create the piece that actually goes into the compute three squares that were the same size and applied a silver gradient to them. I selected the 3 squares and click Horizontal Align Center and Vertical Align Center. Then I send the to the back of the other parts. I added the details that a USB usually has. Then I used two rounded rectangles in the middle to create a dialog box.

Assignment 19A & B

I drew my name out using Adobe Illustrator. I used the arc tool and line segment tool. This was a good way to practice using Adobe Illustrator. I got a chance to free style and see all the different tools Illustrator.

19B helped get me ready for our phone test. I was introduced to pathfinder. For the first two part I created two rectangles. I rotated one and put the other one on top. I selected them both. I chose the minus front in Pathfinder and it deleted the the pink rectangle and part of the blue one. . The middle shapes I did the same thing only instead of using rectangles I used a rounded rectangle and a circle. For the third one I copied the product from the second part and I put a rectangle over part of it. I entered Pathfinder and selected divide. I selected the gray parts and deleted them giving me the finishing product.

Assignment 20 TEST

For the first day I learned how to create rounded rectangle for the body and gradient for the effect of the light hitting on the phone. On day 2 We focused on creating the screen and the two buttons. To do this I created two boxes. One had a lighter opacity. I added the two by creating multiple rounded courner rectangles. Day 3 was focused on making the control panel. I made a rectangle and a circle. Next I place the circle in the middle of the rectangle. Then I went to pathfinder minus front and then divide. I added symbols to make it more realistic. The task for day 4 was to create the buttons. First I made ine by creating a rounded rectangle. I applied a gradient to it. Then I multiplied that one to make the rest. I added the number and letter symbols. For Day 5 I made a microphone By creating two small black circles.
